Important Announcement | Fraud Prevention Reminder page
Dear Distinguished Guest,
We have recently received reports of scam attempts involving individuals impersonating SOF Taichung or associated booking platforms. To safeguard your personal information and financial security, please stay alert. If you receive any suspicious calls or messages claiming issues with your reservation, requesting additional payments, offering special deals, or asking for personal or credit card information, do not follow the instructions or click on any unfamiliar links.
Common scam tactics include,
• Sending messages through messaging apps, email, third-party booking platforms (such as Booking.com, Agoda, Hotels.com) requesting payment via cryptocurrency or asking you to “re-verify” your credit card through a link.
• Pretending to be hotel staff informing you of reservation errors, duplicate charges, or requesting refunds.
• Claiming system malfunctions and asking you to provide credit card details or follow steps to process a refund.
• Asking for the customer service number on your credit card, then impersonating bank staff to instruct online banking or ATM transfers.
• Offering fake membership rewards, top-up bonuses, or discounted packages to trick you into transferring money.
• Stating that your booking information has been compromised and urging you to perform “security verification” or refund procedures.
Please do not disclose your banking or credit card information, and never carry out financial transactions based on unofficial instructions.
If you encounter any suspicious communication, contact the Anti-Fraud Hotline 165 or reach out to our customer service team for verification.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and trustworthy booking environment.
Sincerely,
SOF Taichung
